Happiness books

Happiness books are all the rage, and here is one of the best.

Can you learn to be happy? Apparently so!

Tony Wilkinson, the author of “The Lost Art of Being Happy” believes you can learn five core skills of being happy, and perfect the art by regular practice. The skills are:

  • Mindfulness – the ability to observe the inner life and be still
  • Benevolence – the ability to overcome difficult emotions such as anger
  • The ability to change limiting beliefs
  • Letting go of the past and of fears for the future
  • Enjoyment – being light-hearted, patient and grateful

The author took  a “first” in philosophy at Cambridge and is an advanced student of the Japanese martial art of Aikido. He also worked for 20 years in a merchant bank.

This varied background has contributed broad-based wisdom to a well-rounded book, which is a delight to read.
